Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. In type
2 diabetes, either the body does not produce enough insulin
or the cells ignore the insulin. Insulin is necessary for the
body to be able to use glucose for energy. When you eat food,
the body breaks down all of the sugars and starches into glucose,
which is the basic fuel for the cells in the body. Insulin takes
the sugar from the blood into the cells. When glucose builds
up in the blood instead of going into cells, it can cause two
problems. Short term, your cells may be starved for energy.
Long term, high blood glucose levels may ruin your eyes, kidneys,
nerves or heart.
Type 2 diabetes is not hereditary, what you inherited is your
family’s bad eating habits. Over 21 million people in
America have it and 95% of these people could have prevented
it, by lifestyle changes. There are so many children now that
are developing the “once you turn 45 diabetes.”
Not true any more, now there are children as your as 6 years
young are getting adult onset diabetes, something is wrong,
we are eating, too much refined foods. The Journal of the American
Medical Association states that “…controlling weight
by eating the right foods and introducing daily exercise has
many beneficial effects, including reducing risk for diabetes,
heart attack and some cancers…” Wow! Imagine that,
